Dark Patinated Seated Buddha in a Bhumisparsha Mudra

With the earth-touching mudra, the left hand rests in the lap with the palm facing upward. The right hand rests palm down on the right knee with the fingers pointing toward the earth.

Notice the hand-written wordings inscribed on the front and back of the statue. These are Thai writings that describe the year and temple or "Wat" the statue was produced. Sometimes the inscription also explain the special occasion that marked the production of the statue.
