Bronzed Walking Buddha in Vitarka Mudra

Material: Brass

Origin: Thailand

Height: 40 cm

Code: TS-007

Another "Walking Buddha" image, or “Phra Leela” in Thai, but with a fiery halo.

Buddha Sakyamuni was always on the go throughout His 45 years of teaching in India (except during monsoon season when He and his disciples will go into a 3-month retreat). In spite of the caste system in India where outcasts are shunned, Buddha Sakyamuni spent time with them without any discrimination. Buddha was a clear advocate for equality.

Notice the fine details of the Buddha statue's feet, depicting the movement of walking. More importantly, this captures the walking meditation pose which is an effective practice towards mindfulness of action.
