Four-armed Avalokitesvara (Chenrezig)

The Bodhisattva of Compassion. Seated in a meditation pose on a lotus pedestal, his main two hands clasp the wish-fulfilling jewel at his heart level, symbolising bodhicitta. The raised arms behind, with right hand carrying a prayer bead symbolising liberation and the left hand holds a lotus symbolising purity. He wears a five-leaved crown studded with jewels and with two ribbons flowing gracefully close to his ears. His blue-coloured hair has two topknots with two strands of hair flowing down his shoulders. His left shoulder is draped with an antelope skin, knotted loosely above his navel and his lower garments are incised with multi-hued patterns.
